Paisagens Psicológicas. (Psychological Landscapes)

Paisagens Psicológicas is a photographic series that explores the relationships between perception, emotion, and abstraction. Beginning with photographs of natural landscapes, the images are digitally transformed until they move beyond the representation of a specific place, approaching a painterly language shaped by colour, light, and movement.

Rather than depicting a landscape, the series reflects on the ways we perceive the world. As recognisable visual references gradually dissolve, the viewer's attention shifts from the description of place to an interior experience of perception. Photography ceases to function as a documentary record and instead constructs atmospheric images that evoke emotional and psychological states.

Although created during an earlier stage of my practice, Paisagens Psicológicas already reveals an interest in photography as a language capable of moving beyond the representation of reality. The series marks the beginning of an artistic investigation that would later expand to encompass not only what we see, but also the memories, experiences, and transformations that shape the act of looking itself.
