Álbum de Família. (Family Album)

Álbum de Família is a photographic series within Chão de Histórias that explores the relationships between territory, memory, and ancestry through portraits of native species from the Caatinga biome. Photographed in close-up, the plants move beyond their role as elements of the landscape to assume the presence of individual subjects, revealing textures, scars, and gestures that evoke identity, resilience, and permanence.

By presenting the vegetation as a collection of portraits, the series expands the notion of family beyond bloodlines. Each species is approached as a singular presence while simultaneously belonging to a broader collective memory embedded in the land. The Caatinga ceases to be understood solely as a biome and emerges instead as a living archive, where resilience, adaptation, and continuity have been preserved across generations.

Far from documenting the flora of the sertão, Álbum de Família invites reflection on the many forms that belonging can take. The images suggest that the memory of a place may also be recognized through its vegetation, revealing the landscape as a living organism that preserves, transmits, and continually renews the stories from which it is formed.
