Chão de Histórias. (Ground of Stories)

Chão de Histórias is an ongoing body of work that explores the relationships between territory, memory, and ancestry through photography, collage, video, sculpture, and ceramics. Developed from photographs made in the sertão of Pernambuco, images drawn from the artist's family archive, and materials such as clay and Renascença lace, the project brings together a series of interconnected works that approach landscape as a site of permanence, belonging, and the transmission of memory.

The research begins with the understanding that territory is more than a geographical location; it is a living field where histories, affections, and lived experiences remain inscribed. By bringing together family archives, natural elements, and artisanal processes, the works establish dialogues between past and present, revealing how memory is embedded not only in the body but also in the landscape. Each body of work expands this investigation through distinct materials and visual languages, allowing the project to continually evolve into new forms.

Beyond reconstructing a family genealogy, Chão de Histórias reflects on the traces that time leaves upon people, places, and landscapes. By weaving together different media and materialities, the project transforms the earth into material, witness, and archive, creating a space where intimate memory and collective memory converge.
